WB CM Banerjee Expresses Condolences After Fatal Thunderstorms

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has conveyed her deepest condolences following a series of tragic incidents resulting from severe weather conditions in the state.

“Profoundly sad to know that 9 persons died due to thunderstorms and lightning last night (5 in Purba Burdwan, 2 each in Paschim Medinipur and Purulia), while 2 more persons died due to wall collapse in Nadia and 1 more due to tree collapse in South 24 Parganas,” expressed Chief Minister Banerjee.

She acknowledged the diligent efforts of district administrations across West Bengal, which have been operating in disaster management mode round the clock to provide relief and support to affected communities. Actions are being taken in accordance with established guidelines to extend ex gratia and assistance to the bereaved families.

In her message, Chief Minister Banerjee extended her sincere condolences to the families of the 12 fellow citizens of Bengal who lost their lives in these unfortunate incidents. As the state mourns these losses, efforts continue to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents amidst challenging weather conditions.
