Northeast India’s Cyclonic Circulation:

A cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam and another over northeast Bihar, along with strong southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal, are set to influence weather patterns till May 7, 2024. Expect widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura in the coming days. Isolated heavy rainfall is forecasted for specific dates and regions, along with the possibility of hailstorm activity in certain areas.

Weather Patterns in Central and Southern India:

A cyclonic circulation over Marathwada and a trough extending from east Vidarbha to south Tamil Nadu will impact weather conditions in these regions. Look out for isolated to scattered rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Karnataka. Heavy rainfall is expected in specific areas on designated dates, with the potential for hailstorm activity in South Interior Karnataka.

Upcoming Western Disturbance:

A fresh Western Disturbance is anticipated to affect northwest India from May 9 onwards. This disturbance will bring scattered to fairly widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Additionally, isolated rainfall is predicted over adjoining regions, accompanied by dust storms in certain areas and strong surface winds in others.

Temperature Trends and Warnings:

Maximum temperatures in various regions have been notably above normal, with certain areas experiencing heatwave conditions. Heat wave warnings are issued for isolated pockets in Saurashtra & Kutch, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Interior Karnataka, West Rajasthan, East Rajasthan, and West Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, hot and humid weather is expected in isolated pockets of Kerala, Mahe, and Coastal Karnataka.
