Weather Brings Varied Conditions Across India: Forecast & Warnings

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

The upcoming days are set to witness a diverse array of weather conditions across India, as outlined by recent meteorological forecasts. The primary drivers of these fluctuations are Western Disturbances and troughs affecting various regions, leading to a range of outcomes from rainfall and snowfall to thunderstorms and lightning.

In Northwest India, a Western Disturbance is anticipated to influence the area from March 12th, 2024, onwards. This disturbance is likely to result in isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall and snowfall over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected in isolated pockets.

Concurrently, a trough in westerlies over the northeastern region, extending from Long. 93°E to Lat. 26°N, is poised to bring isolated light rainfall and snowfall to Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. These conditions will persist from March 10th to 15th, 2024, with variations in intensity over the specified period.

In southern India, Kerala, Mahe, and north Coastal Andhra Pradesh are forecasted to experience isolated light to moderate rainfall from March 10th to 11th, 2024, providing relief from prevailing hot and humid weather conditions. Conversely, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are expected to endure continued hot and humid weather for the next two days, with daytime temperatures projected to be 2-3°C above normal.

As citizens and authorities prepare for these weather fluctuations, it’s crucial to heed the forecasts and take necessary precautions to mitigate potential risks associated with adverse weather conditions. Stay informed, stay safe, and adapt to the dynamic weather patterns across the nation.
