Weather Forecast and Warnings for Various Regions in India: August 18th – 22nd, 2023

IndiaThe Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive weather forecast for different regions of the country from August 18th to 22nd, 2023. The forecast highlights the expected weather conditions, including scattered to widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and potentially heavy downpours in various areas.

East India:

During the specified period, East India is anticipated to experience light to moderate scattered rainfall, extending to fairly widespread areas. Isolated heavy rainfall activity is particularly likely over Odisha on the 18th of August. Similarly, Jharkhand and Bihar can expect rainfall on the 18th, while Sub-Himalaya West Bengal and Sikkim might experience such conditions on the 21st and 22nd.

Central India:

Central India should brace for moderate to fairly widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Chhattisgarh, East, and West Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha are likely to be affected, with Chhattisgarh possibly facing isolated very heavy rainfall on the 18th of August.

Northeast India:

Northeast India is predicted to witness light to moderate scattered rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall activity is highly probable over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh during the entire forecast period.

Northwest India:

Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected over Northwest India. Uttarakhand and East Uttar Pradesh might experience these conditions on the 18th, 21st, and 22nd, while West Uttar Pradesh is likely to be affected on the 21st and 22nd. On the 22nd, Uttarakhand could also face isolated very heavy rainfall.

South India:

Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are anticipated to witness scattered to fairly widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning on the 18th and 18th-19th of August, respectively. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu is expected to encounter hot and humid weather on the 18th.

Despite the diverse weather patterns across the regions, the IMD predicts subdued rainfall activity in the remaining parts of the country over the next five days.
