Weather Forecast: Cyclonic Circulation to Bring Rainfall and Snowfall Across India

Weather: A cyclonic circulation situated over northeast Assam and its vicinity is expected to influence the weather across several regions of India from March 23rd to 26th, 2024.

  • Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim are likely to experience fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning.
  • Arunachal Pradesh may also witness isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall on March 23rd, 25th, and 26th, while Sikkim and Assam & Meghalaya may experience isolated heavy rainfall on the same dates.
  • Bihar is likely to experience isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorms and lightning on March 23rd and 24th.

Furthermore, two fresh Western Disturbances are anticipated to affect the Western Himalayan Region:

  • Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad may experience isolated to scattered light rainfall/snowfall with thunderstorms and lightning on March 23rd & 24th.
  • Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may witness isolated to scattered light rainfall/snowfall during March 23rd–28th, 2024.
  • Punjab and Haryana can expect isolated light rainfall on March 23rd & 24th, accompanied by strong surface winds.

Additionally, the forecast indicates:

  • The gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 4-6°C over East India, by 2-4°C over Central India, and by 2-4°C over Northwest India.
  • Hot and humid weather prevails over Rayalaseema, Kerala & Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and no large change thereafter.
  • Heatwave conditions are expected in isolated pockets over Saurashtra & Kutch during March 24th-26th, 2024.
