Western Disturbance Influence: A cyclonic circulation over east Afghanistan and northwest Rajasthan is expected to bring widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall/snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand during April 29th to April 30th, 2024. Hailstorms are also likely over Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is expected over specific areas on April 29th.
Other Weather Influences:
- A trough/wind discontinuity spanning from eastern Vidarbha to north Kerala and another trough from northeast Jharkhand to south Chhattisgarh will cause isolated light rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh on April 29th, 2024.
- Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep may experience isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning over the next few days, along with gusty winds.
- A cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam will lead to widespread light to moderate rainfall/snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from April 29th to May 3rd, 2024. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated in certain areas during this period.
Maximum Temperature Observations and Forecast: Maximum temperatures ranging from 42-45°C are recorded in parts of Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, and North Interior Karnataka. Heat wave conditions are expected to prevail in several regions, with temperatures above normal by 4-8°C in certain areas.
Heat Wave and Warm Night Warnings: Heat wave conditions are forecasted in various regions, including Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Konkan, and East Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, hot and humid weather is expected in specific areas over the next few days.
