Weather Impact: Heavy Showers Likely in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Assam, and More

A cyclonic circulation over north Madhya Maharashtra and neighboring areas is now centered over southwest Madhya Pradesh, extending up to middle tropospheric levels. Moreover, a trough stretches from southern Gujarat to northwest Bihar, intersecting the cyclonic circulation over southwest Madhya Pradesh.

  1. Cyclonic Circulation Over Southwest Madhya Pradesh:
    • The system extends up to the middle tropospheric levels, influencing Heavy Shower patterns over West and Central India.
  2. Cyclonic Circulation Over Northeast Assam:
    • This system, also extending up to middle tropospheric levels, is responsible for rainfall in the northeastern states.
  3. Western Disturbance:
    • A trough in the middle tropospheric westerlies, with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level, runs roughly along Longitude 68°E to the north of Latitude 30°N, bringing weather changes to Northwest India.

West India:

  • Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat:
    • Fairly widespread to widespread light to Heavy Shower is expected over the next three days. Isolated to scattered light to Heavy Shower is anticipated over the subsequent four days.
    • Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat State:
      • Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely on 28th September.

East & Northeast India:

  • Bihar:
    • Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected on 28th September.
  • Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya:
    • Heavy rainfall is likely between 29th September and 3rd October.
  • Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura:
    • Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast during 30th September to 3rd October.

Central India:

  • West Madhya Pradesh:
    • Isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated on 28th September. Scattered light to moderate rainfall will prevail over the next three days.

Northwest India:

  • East Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh:
    • Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected in East Uttar Pradesh over the next three days, with dry weather prevailing thereafter.
    • Uttarakhand:
      • Isolated heavy rainfall is likely on 28th September.
    • East Uttar Pradesh:
      • Heavy Shower on 28th September.

South Peninsular India:

  • Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep:
    • Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected throughout the week.
  • Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal:
    • Isolated heavy rainfall is likely on the 28th and 29th of September.
