In the lower tropospheric levels, a cyclonic circulation is established over west Bangladesh and its neighboring areas. This atmospheric phenomenon is expected to influence the weather in the coming days.
Forecast & Warnings:
- Coastal Tamil Nadu: Under the influence of strong Northeasterly winds, Coastal Tamil Nadu is set to experience a fresh spell of light to moderate rainfall from December 30th, 2023, to January 1st, 2024.
- Northwest India: A new Western Disturbance is anticipated to impact Northwest India from December 29th. The interaction of this disturbance with lower-level easterly winds is likely to result in a wet spell over Northwest adjoining Central India from December 30th, 2023, to January 2nd, 2024.
- Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal: Expect light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places in these regions on December 27th and 28th, 2023.
- Northeast India: Light to moderate rainfall is predicted at isolated places in Northeast India over the next two days.
Dense Fog Warning:
- Punjab, Haryana, East Uttar Pradesh: Isolated pockets of these regions are likely to experience dense to very dense fog conditions during the morning hours from December 26th to 27th, 2023.
- West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh: Dense fog conditions are expected in the morning hours in isolated pockets of West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on December 26th-27th, Odisha on December 26th, Madhya Pradesh on December 26th-27th.
- Punjab, Haryana, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura: Dense fog conditions are anticipated during various periods; Punjab & Haryana from December 28th-30th, and Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura from December 27th-30th, 2023.
Minimum Temperatures Forecast:
- Northwest & Adjoining Central India: Minimum temperatures are expected to fall by 2-4°C over the next 24 hours, with no significant change thereafter.
- East India: Minimum temperatures in East India are likely to decrease by about 2°C over the next 24 hours, with no significant change thereafter.
- Rest of the Country: No significant change in minimum temperatures is anticipated over the rest of the country during the next 4-5 days.
