Weather Systems and Forecast: Alert for the Next 5 Days

As we navigate through the upcoming days, understanding and preparing for the ever-changing weather systems becomes imperative. Let’s delve into the forecast and warnings for the next five days, encompassing various meteorological phenomena across different regions.

Western Disturbance:

A fresh Western Disturbance is poised to impact the western Himalayan region starting from February 26th, 2024. This disturbance manifests as a trough in the middle tropospheric westerlies, extending roughly along Long. 75°E to the north of Lat. 30°N. Anticipate isolated to scattered light rainfall and snowfall over the Western Himalayan Region from February 25th to March 1st, with heightened activity on February 26th and 27th. Thunderstorms and lightning may accompany these precipitation events, particularly over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

Jet Stream Winds:

Jet Stream Winds, reaching speeds of up to 150 knots, will prevail over northeast India at 12.6 km above mean sea level. On February 25th, 2024, expect isolated light to moderate rainfall over Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura.

Cyclonic Circulation:

A cyclonic circulation positioned over Marathwada & neighboring areas, coupled with a wind discontinuity extending from this circulation to Coastal Andhra Pradesh via Vidarbha and south Chhattisgarh in lower tropospheric levels, signifies another weather system in play. The strengthening of the anti-cyclone over the Bay of Bengal is projected to bolster the wind discontinuity over Central India. As a result, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph), is expected over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana on February 25th and 26th. Additionally, hailstorms may occur over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh on February 26th and 27th.

Hot and Humid Weather:

Kerala is forecasted to experience hot and humid weather on February 25th, 2024.

In summary, the next five days will witness a diverse array of weather phenomena across different regions. From the Western Disturbance influencing the Western Himalayas to the Jet Stream Winds over northeast India and the Cyclonic Circulation affecting Central India, be prepared for varying conditions including rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and even hailstorms. Stay informed, stay safe, and plan accordingly to mitigate any potential risks associated with these weather patterns.
