Weather Systems Bring Varied Conditions Across India: Forecast & Warnings

Several weather systems are set to impact different parts of India over the coming days, bringing varied conditions and forecast warnings across the country.

In the northern regions, two Western Disturbances are expected to influence weather patterns. One is forecasted along Long. 70°E to the north of Lat. 30°N, while another fresh disturbance is anticipated along Long. 50°E to the north of Lat. 28°N.

This will likely result in fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall and snowfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on 13th & 14th March 2024, with a reduction in distribution and intensity thereafter. Additionally, isolated to scattered light rainfall is expected over Punjab, north Haryana, Chandigarh, Northwest Uttar Pradesh, & West Rajasthan on 13th March 2024.

Moving towards eastern regions, isolated to scattered light rainfall is anticipated over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during the 12th -14th; Gangetic West Bengal during the 13th-17th; over Odisha during the 14th-17th; over Jharkhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh on 16th & 17th; and over West Madhya Pradesh on 17th March 2024.

In northeastern states, isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall/snowfall is expected over Arunachal Pradesh during the next 7 days, with isolated light rainfall forecasted over Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during 13th – 15th March 2024.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather is anticipated to prevail over Kerala & Mahe during the next 2 days and over Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during the next 3 days.
