Over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Marathwada, along with a trough extending from Meghalaya, anticipate widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are likely to experience fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, with isolated instances of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, particularly in Meghalaya on May 6th, 2024.
In addition, Western Disturbances, identified as troughs along specific longitudes and latitudes, will bring isolated to scattered rainfall over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and adjoining regions.
Rainfall and Thunderstorm Predictions Across India:
Various regions across India will witness rainfall and thunderstorm activity during this period. Expect isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorms over Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Telangana, and Karnataka.
Isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated in specific pockets, with Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka, and Kerala likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall on May 7th and 8th, 2024. Moreover, hailstorms are a possibility in Interior Karnataka on May 7th and 8th.
Maximum Temperature Observations and Heat Wave Warnings:
Maximum temperatures in several regions have soared, with some areas experiencing temperatures above normal by 3-5°C. Heat wave conditions are expected in isolated pockets across Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, West Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, and Saurashtra & Kutch during various dates between May 5th and May 8th, 2024.
Warm Nights and Hot, Humid Weather Warnings:
Additionally, warm nights are predicted over Rayalaseema and Coastal & South Interior Karnataka during May 5th to May 7th, 2024. Hot and humid weather conditions are likely in isolated pockets across Gujarat State, Konkan & Goa, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Karnataka, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand during May 5th to May 8th, 2024.
