The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Raipur, successfully organized a two-day Y20 Consultation event on its campus on February 25-26, 2023, with much enthusiasm and fanfare. The event commenced with an important ‘Youth Dialogue’ with Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, on the first day of deliberations.
During the dialogue, Shri Anurag Thakur highlighted the significance of technology in bridging gaps and providing opportunities for showcasing talent, as well as solving global problems. The Minister expressed pride at India has become the 3rd largest startup ecosystem in the world, boasting 107 unicorns. He lauded the young people of Chattisgarh for taking advantage of disruptive technologies and exhibiting unparalleled enthusiasm, energy, and liveliness.
The youth raised several questions regarding the involvement of young people in politics, enhancing GDP, self-empowerment, the contribution of international students to their home country, and other topics during the dialogue with the Minister. This session has taught us that continual learning and developing new abilities can give young people the power to contribute to their nation’s growth and foster peace.
Mrs. Renuka Singh Saruta, MoS, Tribal Affairs, Government of India inaugurated the program in the presence of Dr. Ram Kumar Kakani, Director, IIM Raipur along with other esteemed guests. She emphasized the importance of the Y20 consultation event as an opportune moment to pay tribute to all the freedom fighters who contributed to India’s independence and progress.
Expressing his belief that the Y20 mentorship program is a powerful driver of global change, Dr. Ram Kumar Kakani, Director, IIM Raipur, delivered the welcome address. The importance of unifying to tackle the issues caused by terrorism, socialist organizations, and societal feudalism was highlighted by him. The responsibility of governments to maintain a balance between protecting human rights and upholding the law is of critical importance. Engaging in dialogue across communities is essential to maintaining peace and harmony.
The participants engaged in active discussions and brainstorming sessions throughout the event, generating innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing issues. The Y20 Consultation event proved to be a platform for youth engagement in global dialogues and forums.
Tour of IIM Raipur Campus
Before the event commenced, the guests were taken on a tour of the IIM Raipur campus. The tour showcased the state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities that the institute offers, including a library, classrooms, hostels, sports facilities, and much more.
The guests were treated to a millet-based breakfast, contributing to India’s observance of the International Year of Millets 2023. The use of millet in food has gained recognition globally as it is a gluten-free, protein-rich grain and is environmentally sustainable.
The tour was an opportunity for the guests to experience the warm hospitality of the institute and its commitment to sustainable living.
