In a landmark event in Lucknow, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah distributed appointment letters to 60,244 newly recruited Civil Police Constables of the Uttar Pradesh Police, marking one of the largest single-day police recruitments in Indian history. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and was celebrated as a symbol of transparent governance, youth empowerment, and institutional reform.
A New Chapter in Uttar Pradesh Policing
In his address, Shri Amit Shah underscored the historic significance of the occasion. With this recruitment, over 60,000 young men and women officially joined the country’s largest police force, boasting a strength of over 4 lakh personnel. Notably, more than 12,000 of the new recruits are women, reflecting the government’s commitment to gender-inclusive growth in governance.
He emphasized that the recruitment process—drawn from over 48 lakh applications—was conducted entirely on merit, without any room for bribery, political influence, caste favoritism, or corruption. This, he stated, was possible only due to the transparent, tech-driven systems implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The Transformation of Law and Order in Uttar Pradesh
Shri Shah highlighted the transformation of Uttar Pradesh’s law and order situation since 2017, crediting CM Yogi Adityanath’s leadership. “Earlier, the state was synonymous with chaos and crime. Today, the same police force is at the forefront of delivering justice, powered by command centres, CCTVs, forensic labs, mobile FSL units, and PCR vehicles,” he said.
He stressed that recruitments in previous regimes were marred by casteism and corruption, whereas today’s recruitment process embodies transparency and equal opportunity, thanks to technology and political will.
From Riot-Torn to Riot-Free
Shah highlighted that Uttar Pradesh, once known for frequent riots, is now entirely riot-free—a transformation he credited to the BJP-led governance rooted in justice, rule of law, and institutional modernization. He urged the newly inducted constables to carry this progress forward, guided by the principles of “Security, Service, and Sensitivity.”
Vision 2047 and Amrit Kaal
Addressing the recruits as stakeholders in India’s Amrit Kaal, Shri Shah said that by 2047, India will be the world’s number one nation in all domains, with Uttar Pradesh playing a central role. He listed areas such as industrial development, education, law and order, infrastructure, electricity, and clean water access as fields where the state has already shown remarkable progress.
He declared that the onus now lies with these 60,000 youth to transform Uttar Pradesh into not only a developed state but a secure one, aligned with PM Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
Justice Delivery and Legal Reforms
Shri Shah highlighted India’s bold legal reform steps, particularly the introduction of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. He claimed that these codes, supported by tech tools like NAFIS, CCTNS, ICJS, and forensic science, will soon make it possible to deliver justice within three years of filing an FIR.
India’s Global Rise Under PM Modi
Amit Shah contextualized this police recruitment within the larger narrative of India’s ascent under Prime Minister Modi. Over the last 11 years, he said:
- Twenty Five crore people have risen above the poverty line
- More than 60 crore citizens have benefited from schemes providing free food grains, healthcare, LPG connections, household toilets, electricity, and tap water.
- India’s economy has advanced from the 11th to the 4th largest in the world and is projected to reach the 3rd position by 2027.
- Infrastructure projects have flourished with over 150 airports, metro networks in 143 cities, and better road connectivity
- Youth have gained access to technology, skill development, and education reforms through the New Education Policy
Strong National Security and Cultural Renaissance
Shri Shah emphasized that terrorist threats and Naxalism have drastically reduced under PM Modi’s governance. Once rampant in 11 states, Naxalism is now restricted to just three districts, and the government has vowed to eliminate it completely by March 31, 2026.
He also highlighted India’s space achievements, including the successful lunar landing at Shivshakti Point, and efforts to revive India’s cultural and spiritual identity. From building the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, launching the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, and restoring Somnath Temple, to enacting the Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand and banning triple talaq, he noted that the Modi government is advancing both tradition and progress.
Call to Duty: Youth as Protectors and Change-Makers
Concluding his address, Shri Amit Shah called on the youth to instill fear among criminals and confidence among the marginalized, including Dalits, backward classes, and tribals. He reiterated that these new constables are not merely joining the police—they are stepping into a historic role as guardians of New India.
He said, “This is your time. Your duty is to ensure that Uttar Pradesh remains riot-free, crime-free, and corruption-free. Move forward with pride, discipline, and responsibility. The future of India begins with your service today.”
