Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra, expressed profound sadness over the landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, describing the area, once considered a paradise, as devastated by the tragedy. He offered heartfelt condolences and assured support for relief efforts. Mahindra emphasized that his team will assist in any way possible during this difficult time.
Heavy Rains Trigger Devastation
Massive landslides, triggered by heavy rains, struck Wayanad early Tuesday, leading to at least 45 confirmed deaths. The landslides have caused extensive damage, destroying homes, swelling water bodies, and uprooting trees. Rescue operations are complicated due to the scale of the disaster, with many feared trapped under debris.
Anand Mahindra: Government Response and Assistance
The villages affected by the landslides, including Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha, are now isolated from the rest of the district. In response, the Kerala government has requested the Indian Army’s assistance to aid in rescue efforts and manage the situation.
