Avani Lekhara: A Paralympic Star
Avani Lekhara, born on November 8, 2001, is a shining star among Indian Paralympians. Her achievements extend from the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, where she clinched a Gold Medal in the 10m air rifle standing event and a Bronze Medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions category.
World No. 1 and Asian Para Games Participant
As of January 2023, Lekhara holds the world no. 1 ranking in Women’s 10m Air Rifle standing SH1, according to the World Shooting Para Sport Rankings. Her journey in para sports includes active participation in the 2018 Asian Para Games.

Lekhara’s historic journey includes becoming the first Indian woman to win a Paralympic gold medal. Her victory at the 2020 Summer Paralympics was nothing short of extraordinary, setting a Paralympic record and equalling a world record with a final score of 249.6 points.

Inspired by former Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra, Avani Lekhara embarked on her shooting journey in 2015. Since then, she has achieved several national and international titles, inspiring aspiring athletes and the nation with her unwavering dedication.
