The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially declared the extension of contracts for the Head Coach of Team India (Senior Men), Mr. Rahul Dravid, along with the Support Staff. This decision comes on the heels of the recently concluded ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, where India showcased commendable performances under Mr. Dravid’s coaching.
The BCCI engaged in constructive discussions with Mr. Rahul Dravid after the expiration of his initial contract and unanimously agreed to extend his tenure. The Board acknowledges the instrumental role played by Mr. Dravid in shaping the Indian Team and commends his unwavering commitment and professionalism.
Acknowledging Contributions:
The announcement recognizes not only Mr. Dravid’s leadership but also extends appreciation to Mr. VVS Laxman for his exemplary roles as the Head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and as the stand-in Head Coach. The partnership between Mr. Dravid and Mr. Laxman, reminiscent of their legendary on-field collaborations, has been integral to driving Indian Cricket forward.
Mr. Roger Binny, President of BCCI, conveyed his appreciation to Mr. Rahul Dravid, expressing gratitude for Dravid’s pivotal role in Team India’s success. Binny commended Dravid’s vision, professionalism, and unwavering dedication, citing them as crucial pillars of the team’s achievements. Acknowledging the intense scrutiny that comes with being the Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team, Binny extended his admiration to Dravid for not only embracing the challenges but also thriving in them.
He went on to say, “I am pleased that he agreed to continue as the Head Coach, underscoring the mutual respect & aligned vision between him & the BCCI.” I am confident that with him at the helm, the team will persist in its journey towards achieving the highest levels of success, continually establishing new standards in the process.”

Mr. Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary of BCCI, reiterated his confidence in Rahul Dravid’s capabilities, saying, “Team India is now a formidable unit across formats, and our top ranking in all three formats directly reflects his vision, guidance, and the roadmap he charted for the team.” He highlighted the extraordinary World Cup campaign, emphasizing Dravid’s role in setting up the right platform for the team’s success.
