Uttarakhand: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has unveiled a significant development aimed at recognizing the invaluable contributions of Uttarakhand State Movement agitators. Speaking on behalf of the government, he announced the passage of a bill in the Assembly to grant 10% horizontal reservation in government service to these individuals and their eligible dependents.
The decision to provide reservation underscores the government’s commitment to acknowledging the pivotal role played by state agitators in the creation of separate Uttarakhand. CM Dhami emphasized the unprecedented contribution of these individuals, highlighting their dedication and sacrifices in the pursuit of statehood.
In addition to reservation benefits, CM Dhami reiterated the government’s efforts to provide various facilities and increase pensions for state agitators. He affirmed the administration’s dedication to the upliftment and welfare of agitators and their dependents, ensuring their socio-economic empowerment and inclusion.
This legislative move reflects the government’s proactive approach towards honoring the legacy of Uttarakhand State Movement agitators and addressing their long-standing demands.
