Uttarakhand: In response to the violent upheaval in Haldwani’s Banbhoolpura area, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed concern for the injured, urging inquiries into their well-being, including women police and municipal workers. He affirmed the availability of evidence to identify lawbreakers and ensure legal repercussions.

The turmoil, which claimed four lives and inflicted injuries on over 100 policemen, prompted stringent measures by the state administration. ADG Law & Order AP Anshuman confirmed casualties and injuries, leading to the internet shutdown and the suspension of educational institutions.

Uttarakhand government heightened vigilance across the state following the unrest. The deployment of paramilitary forces followed the violence during an anti-encroachment drive. Senior Superintendent of Police Prahlad Meena clarified the legality of demolitions, prompting protests from residents.

The community’s anger manifested as clashes with law enforcement amid the demolition of illegal structures. As tensions escalated, barricades were breached, and confrontations ensued between protesters and police personnel.

CM Pushkar Singh’s assurance of thorough investigation and legal action underscores the state’s commitment to restoring peace and addressing grievances arising from the incident.
