Indian Foreign Service Day, celebrated on October 9th every year, is a momentous occasion for the dedicated officers of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS). It’s a day to reflect on their achievements, reaffirm their commitment to serving the nation, and receive encouragement from their leaders. On this special day, Dr. S. Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs, extended his warm greetings to IFS officers, acknowledging their indispensable role in shaping India’s global presence.
In his message, Dr. Jaishankar emphasized the evolving challenges in the global arena and the increasing responsibilities that come with them. He remarked, “As India rises in a more complex and unpredictable world, the responsibilities of our IFS officers grow by the day. The challenges we face demand agility, strategic thinking, and unwavering dedication.”
Highlighting the successful tenure of India’s G20 presidency, Dr. Jaishankar pointed out how it showcased the impact Indian diplomacy can make on the world stage. “The G20 presidency demonstrated that Indian diplomacy can make a real difference. It was a testament to our ability to lead and influence global discussions on critical issues,” he stated.
Dr. Jaishankar’s words of encouragement and appreciation reflect the government’s unwavering support for the Indian Foreign Service and its commitment to nurturing a cadre of diplomats who can effectively represent India’s interests worldwide.
He concluded his message with an optimistic note, expressing confidence that the IFS, like the rest of the nation, will respond to the vision of “Amrit Kaal” – a period of boundless potential and growth for India. “I am confident that, armed with your knowledge, skills, and dedication, the IFS will play a pivotal role in advancing India’s interests and safeguarding our nation’s reputation on the global stage,” Dr. Jaishankar affirmed.
Indian Foreign Service Day is a day to honor the dedication and service of IFS officers, who work tirelessly to enhance India’s diplomatic ties, promote its interests, and secure its place as a prominent global player. Dr. S.
