The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken significant action by filing a Prosecution Complaint (PC) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Ved Prakash Yadav and others. This development comes after the Hon’ble Special Court in Jaipur, Rajasthan, acknowledged the PC on March 21, 2024.

The investigation was initiated by the ED based on an FIR registered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Rajasthan Police against Ved Prakash Yadav, the former Joint Director of the Department of Information Technology & Communication (DoIT & C) in Rajasthan. The FIR alleged the discovery of two bags filled with currency notes totaling Rs. 2.31 crore and a gold bar valued at Rs. 61.80 lakh in the basement of the UID Branch of DoIT & C, allegedly belonging to Yadav.

Furthermore, the ACB filed a charge sheet accusing Yadav of acquiring Disproportionate Assets (DA) worth Rs. 3.35 crore during the period from March 31, 1994, to May 21, 2023.

Previously, the ED conducted searches at 25 premises/lockers across Rajasthan, New Delhi, and Maharashtra in connection with the case. Ved Prakash Yadav was subsequently arrested on August 9, 2023, and is currently in judicial custody.

The filing of the Prosecution Complaint signifies a significant step in the ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities and money laundering activities involving Yadav and others. The ED’s relentless efforts to pursue justice and uphold the law in such cases are crucial in combating corruption and preserving the integrity of financial systems.
