Damien Martyn is one of the most underrated cricket players in the world. He was an Australian cricket hero who was often forgotten. He had an amazing cricket career that was overshadowed by the likes of Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath.

Damien Martyn was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, on 21 October 1971. He is a former international cricketer who represented the Australian cricket team between 1996 and 2007. Martyn is a right-handed batsman who made his Test debut in India in 1996. He is considered one of the best batsmen of his generation, and was a key player in the Australian team that won the World Cup in 2003. Martyn retired from international cricket in 2007.

Martyn also had a successful career in the English County Championship, playing for Gloucestershire, Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire. He was named Player of the Year in both 2002 and 2003, and helped Nottinghamshire to win the County Championship in 2005.
Martyn’s impressive domestic record earned him a call-up to the Australian national team in 2001. He made his Test debut against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and scored a century, becoming only the second Australian batsman to score a century on debut at the MCG. Martyn went on to play 69 Tests for Australia, scoring 5,028 runs at an average of 43.58. He was a key player in Australia’s successful run in the early 2000s, and was named Player of the Series in the 2004 Ashes series.
Martyn’s retirement from international cricket in 2006 was a huge loss for Australian cricket, but he continued to play domestic cricket until 2012. He is now a successful coach and commentator, and is widely respected by players and fans alike.

Martyn retired from international cricket in 2006. He played his last match for Australia in the fifth and final Ashes Test at The Oval. In total, he played in 86 Tests, scoring 5,062 runs at an average of 45.72.
Since retiring from cricket, Martyn has worked as a cricket commentator and coach. He is currently the head coach of the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League.

In 2006, Damien announced his retirement from cricket. He said that he wanted to focus on his family and his charity work. Damien is the founder of the Damien Martyn Foundation, which helps disadvantaged children in Australia and Sri Lanka.
