Kumar Dharmasena was born on the 22nd of December, 1977, in Matara, Sri Lanka. He is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who played as a fast bowler and a right-handed batsman. Dharmasena made his Test debut in 2001 against England and his One Day International (ODI) debut in 2002 against India. He played his last Test match in 2011 against India and his last ODI in 2012 against Pakistan. Dharmasena was a part of the Sri Lanka cricket team that won the Cricket World Cup in 1996 and 2007. He was also a part of the team that reached the final of the 2011 Cricket World Cup. Kumar Dharmasena is a right-arm fast bowler and a right-handed batsman. He made his Test debut in 2001 against England and his One Day International (ODI) debut in 2002 against India. He played his last Test match in 2011 against India and his last ODI in 2012 against Pakistan. Dharmasena was a part of the Sri Lanka cricket team that won the Cricket World Cup in 1996 and 2007. Dharmasena made his One Day International debut on 8 July 2007 against England. He made his Test debut on 8 January 2009 against India. He was also a part of the 2014 ICC World Cup winning team. He is the first ever player to have won the World Cup as both a player and a match referee.
Dharmasena is the most successful bowler in Sri Lankan ODI history. He has taken 157 wickets in 169 matches at an average of 31.37. He was the second highest wicket-taker in the 2014 ICC World Cup with 18 wickets.
Dharmasena is also a very successful batsman in ODIs. He has scored 2277 runs in 169 matches at an average of 31.37. He has scored two centuries and fifteen half-centuries. He was the third highest run-scorer in the 2014 ICC World Cup.

Kumar Dharmasena is one of the most accomplished players in the current Sri Lankan cricket setup. He made his debut for Sri Lanka in 1996 and has since played more than 100 internationals for his country. He is an attacking right-handed batsman and a medium-pace bowler.
Dharmasena has been a regular in the Sri Lankan side for more than a decade now. He has played in all three formats of the game and has been a key player in the team. He was a part of the Sri Lankan team which reached the final of the 2007 World Cup. He has also been a part of the Sri Lankan side which has won the World Twenty20 in 2014.
Dharmasena has been a consistent performer for Sri Lanka over the years. He has scored more than 3000 runs in international cricket and has taken more than 100 wickets. He is also a handy lower-order batsman and has scored some crucial runs for Sri Lanka in the past.
Dharmasena is currently ranked as the No.1 umpire in ICC’s rankings for umpires. He has umpired in more than 150 international matches and has been praised for his umpiring skills.

5. Kumar Dharmasena: IPL Career highlights
Kumar Dharmasena is a Sri Lankan cricket umpire. He made his international umpiring debut in a One Day International (ODI) between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in April 2006. He stood in his first Test match later that year, between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Dharmasena was a member of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Elite Panel of Umpires from 2012 to 2016. In April 2017, he was elevated to the ICC’s International Panel of Umpires.
Dharmasena has stood in a number of high-profile matches, including the 2013 and 2017 Cricket World Cups, the 2011 and 2015 ICC World Twenty20s, and the 2014 and 2016 ICC Champions Trophys. He was also the umpire for the first ever day/night Test match, between Australia and New Zealand in November 2015.
Dharmasena is best known for his involvement in two controversial decisions in the final of the 2013 Cricket World Cup. In the first innings, he gave Indian batsman Rohit Sharma out LBW when he was not out. In the second innings, he gave Australian batsman Shane Watson out caught behind when he had not hit the ball. The decisions were both later overturned on review.
Dharmasena was named as the ICC Umpire of the Year in 2013, and was a finalist for the award in 2016.

Dharmasena made his international debut in November 2001 in a One Day International (ODI) against Zimbabwe. He made his Test debut in the same month against the same team. His first Twenty20 International (T20I) was in June 2006 against Pakistan.
Dharmasena has played in 83 Tests, 149 ODIs and 49 T20Is. He has taken 246 Test wickets at an average of 34.37, and has scored 2,023 Test runs at an average of 25.06. He has taken 204 ODI wickets at an average of 32.14, and has scored 2,749 ODI runs at an average of 34.36. He has taken 78 T20I wickets at an average of 23.54, and has scored 763 T20I runs at an average of 25.48.
Dharmasena was a part of the team that won the ICC Cricket World Cup in 1996 and the ICC World Twenty20 in 2014. He was also a part of the team that reached the final of the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017.
Dharmasena is the first Sri Lankan cricketer to score a Test century and take 10 wickets in a Test match. He is also the first Sri Lankan cricketer to score 5,000 runs and take 250 wickets in ODIs. He is the third Sri Lankan cricketer to score 1,000 runs.
