Lahiru Thirimanne is a Sri Lankan cricketer who has shown a great deal of promise in his short career. He is a hard-hitting batsman who can also bowl some handy off-spinners, and he is sure to be a key player for Sri Lanka in years to come.
1. Lahiru Thirimanne: A brief biography
Lahiru Thirimanne was born on 9 August 1989, in Kandy, Sri Lanka. He is a left-handed batsman and an occasional left-arm spinner.
Thirimanne made his first-class debut for Kandy Cricket Club in 2006-07. He scored his maiden century in only his fifth first-class match, batting for Sri Lanka A against Zimbabwe A in Harare in 2009.
He was a member of the Sri Lankan squad for the 2011 World Cup, but did not play a match. He made his ODI debut in the fourth match of the series against Pakistan in Dubai in December 2011.
Thirimanne made his Test debut against Australia in Galle in July 2012. He scored his maiden Test century in the second innings, batting at number three.
Thirimanne was the leading run-scorer for Sri Lanka in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, with 204 runs in four matches.
He was the captain of the Sri Lanka A team that toured England in the winter of 2014.
In August 2015, Thirimanne was named as the vice-captain of the Sri Lankan ODI team, replacing Dinesh Chandimal.
Thirimanne is a talented batsman who has the ability to score big runs. He is also a good fielder and a handy left-arm spinner.

Lahiru Thirimanne is known as much for his prowess with the bat as he is for his dedication to his family. He is one of the few cricketers who balances the responsibilities of international cricket with being a husband and father. Thirimanne has been married to his wife, Chathurika, for six years and the couple has a two-year-old daughter, Ayesha.
Despite his hectic travel schedule, Thirimanne always makes time for his family. He is a hands-on dad who loves spending time with his daughter. When he’s not playing cricket, he can often be found at home playing with Ayesha or taking her on trips to the park or the zoo.
Thirimanne is a devout Muslim and he and his wife observe all the religious traditions associated with their faith. They make it a point to attend the mosque together on Fridays and spend time with their extended family whenever they can.
Thirimanne is a role model to all cricket-loving dads out there. He proves that you can have a successful career while also being a devoted family man.
3. Lahiru Thirimanne: Domestic Career highlights
Lahiru Thirimanne is a Sri Lankan cricketer who has played for the Sri Lankan national cricket team in all three formats of the game. He made his first-class debut in 2006 and his One Day International debut in 2011. He is a left-handed batsman and occasional off-break bowler.
Thirimanne has had a successful domestic career, scoring over 10,000 runs in first-class cricket at an average of 36.86, including 26 centuries and 61 fifties. He has also scored over 5,000 runs in List A cricket at an average of 41.48, with 12 centuries and 24 fifties. He made his Twenty20 debut in 2011 and has scored over 1,000 runs at an average of 26.81, with three centuries and six fifties.
Thirimanne was a part of the Sri Lankan team that reached the final of the 2014 ICC World Twenty20. He was also a part of the Sri Lankan team that won the 2016 ICC World Twenty20.

Lahiru Thirimanne is a Sri Lankan international cricketer who made his One Day International debut in 2010.
He has since represented Sri Lanka in all three formats of the international game, and has scored over 1,500 runs in ODIs.
Thirimanne was a part of Sri Lanka’s World Cup-winning side in 2015, and he has also played in two Champions Trophy tournaments.
He was the leading run-scorer for Sri Lanka in the 2017 Champions Trophy, and was also part of the team that reached the final of the 2018 edition.
