Mahmudullah made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Zimbabwe in August 2007.

He scored his maiden century against the same opposition in November 2009.

Mahmudullah was named the man of the match in the final of the 2010 Asia Cup for his match-winning innings of 101 not out.
