Mark Richardson has been a part of the cricketing scene for a very long time. He has played for the South African cricket team and is currently a commentator and analyst for the sport. Richardson has been involved in a number of controversies and here are some of the most important facts you need to know about him.
1. Mark Richardson: A brief biography
Mark Richardson was born on 11th of June 1971, in Christchurch, New Zealand. He is a former cricketer who represented the Black Caps in international cricket. Richardson played as a right-handed opening batsman and made his One Day International debut against India in 1996. He played his final match for New Zealand in 2006.
Richardson made his first-class debut for Canterbury in 1989 and played for the province until his retirement from first-class cricket in 2006. He also played for the Auckland Aces in the State Championship. Richardson was a consistent performer in domestic cricket, scoring over 10,000 runs in first-class cricket. He was also a part of the New Zealand side that won the ICC Trophy in 2004.
Richardson was a strong and aggressive batsman, who was particularly successful in limited-overs cricket. He scored centuries against India, Pakistan and the West Indies, and was one of the most successful New Zealand batsmen in One Day Internationals. Richardson was also a part of the New Zealand side that reached the final of the 2003 Cricket World Cup.
Richardson announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in May 2006. He was honoured with a testimonial match in Christchurch in October 2006. Richardson is currently a cricket commentator and analyst for Sky Television.

He is a cricketer who represented the New Zealand national cricket team. Richardson played as a right-handed batsman and a wicket-keeper. He is the son of former New Zealand Test cricketer Ray Richardson.
Richardson started his cricketing career at the age of 12, playing for the Christchurch Boys’ High School cricket team. He made his first-class cricket debut for Canterbury in 1990. Richardson made his One Day International (ODI) cricket debut for New Zealand in 1996. He played in 26 ODIs for New Zealand, scoring 377 runs at an average of 25.46. His highest score in ODIs was 89 not out.
Richardson played his last ODI for New Zealand in 2001. He made his Test cricket debut for New Zealand in 1998. Richardson played in 16 Tests for New Zealand, scoring 673 runs at an average of 27.88. His highest score in Tests was 128. Richardson played his last Test for New Zealand in 2002.
Richardson is married to Leanne and they have two children. He is currently a cricket commentator on New Zealand television.
3. Mark Richardson: Domestic Career highlights
He made his first-class debut for Gauteng in 1995-96, and his international debut for New Zealand in a One Day International against India in 1997. He played in the 1999 and 2003 Cricket World Cups, and was a member of New Zealand’s World Cup-winning team in 2007. Richardson is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler.
Richardson’s most successful period as a batsman came in 2007 and 2008, when he averaged over 50 in both Tests and One Day Internationals. He played in every match of South Africa’s successful campaign in the 2007 Cricket World Cup, and was named man of the match in the final against Australia. In the final innings of the match, he scored an unbeaten 55 from just 39 balls, including five sixes.
Richardson’s finest hour as a bowler came in the fourth Test of the 2008 series against England. With South Africa struggling at 107 for 7, Richardson took 5 for 38 to help his team to an improbable victory. This was the first time that he had taken five wickets in an innings in a Test match.
Richardson announced his retirement from international cricket in September 2013.

Mark Richardson played for the New Zealand cricket team from 1996 to 2007. He was a right-handed batsman and a wicketkeeper.
Richardson made his Test debut against England in 1996. He was part of the New Zealand team that reached the semi-finals of the 1999 Cricket World Cup.
Richardson played his last Test match in 2007. He finished his Test career with a batting average of 34.01 and a dismissal rate of one dismissal every 45.14 innings.
Richardson played in 88 One Day Internationals for New Zealand. He scored 2,415 runs at an average of 31.77 and took 104 catches and made 24 stumpings.
Richardson’s best ODI batting performance was an innings of 108 not out against South Africa in 2002.
Richardson was named as the New Zealand Cricket Player of the Year in 2002.

Mark Richardson is a baseball player who has achieved much in his career. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the first round of the 2001 MLB draft, and he made his major league debut in 2004. He has played for the Braves, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his career, Richardson has batted .272 with 66 home runs and 284 RBIs. He was also a part of the Phillies team that won the 2008 World Series.
7. Mark Richardson : The philanthropist
Richardson is a well-respected figure in the cricket world and is known for his philanthropic work. He is a patron of the cancer charity Rugby League Cares and has also worked with the charity Street League to help young people in deprived areas.
