In the 2017–18 Premier League Tournament, he took his maiden first-class five-wicket haul, 5/71, against Sinhalese Sports Club. In the 2018–19 Premier League Tournament, he took his maiden List A five-wicket haul, 5/33, against Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club.

Nissanka was born on 18 May 1998 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

He made his List A debut for Sri Lanka Cricket Development XI against the touring South Africa A team in July 2017.

Nissanka was part of the Sri Lanka Under-19 cricket team that toured England in July and August 2017.

He made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for Sri Lanka against India in December 2017.

Pathum Nissanka is a Sri Lankan cricketer who has played in the Indian Premier League (IPL). His highlights in IPL career are:

-In his debut IPL season (2018), Nissanka played 5 matches for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), scoring 73 runs at an average of 24.33.

-In 2019, he was signed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and played 9 matches, scoring 163 runs at an average of 18.11, with a high score of 47.

-Nissanka was the 2nd highest scorer for SRH in the 2019 IPL season.

-He was also the joint-highest wicket-taker for SRH in the season, taking 10 wickets at an average of 24.30.

-Nissanka was named the Man of the Match for his performance in the final of the 2019 IPL season, in which SRH defeated the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 8 wickets.
