Ashwin was the leading wicket-taker for India in Tests in 2016 and 2017. He was also the Man of the Series in the 2016-17 series against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Australia. He was awarded the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Cricketer of the Year in 2017.
