New York: Yainilet Hernandez, a 24-year-old illegal immigrant, was apprehended by Yonkers police after assaulting an officer during an arrest at the Ramada Inn. The altercation ensued following a call reporting a disturbance involving a group of individuals, believed to be undocumented immigrants, at the hotel.
Upon arrival, officers arrested one man for reportedly harassing and assaulting hotel staff. As he was being placed into a police vehicle, Hernandez attempted to assault one of the officers. In response, she was swiftly taken to the ground and arrested.
Hernandez faces charges of second-degree assault, resisting arrest, and obstruction of governmental administration. The incident highlights the challenges law enforcement faces when dealing with volatile situations involving undocumented individuals and underscores the importance of maintaining public safety protocols.
