Golden Boy of India: Neeraj Chopra turns 25 today.

Know some achievements of his life on Neeraj Chopra’s 25th birthday:-

Born on December 24, 1997, Neeraj Chopra is a track and field athlete from India. He is the reigning Olympic champion in the javelin throw, the silver medalist in the World Championship, and the Diamond League champion.

He is the first athlete of Asian descent to win a gold medal in the Men’s Javelin throw at the Olympics. Chopra is the first track and field athlete to win a gold medal for India at the Olympics and is a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) in the Indian Army.

He became the first Indian athlete to set a world record when he achieved a world under-20 record throw of 86.48 m at the IAAF World U20 Championships in 2016.

Chopra participated in the 2018 Commonwealth Games, winning a gold medal, and the 2018 Asian Games, serving as the flag-bearer and winning a gold medal. After his debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj won the gold medal with a throw of 87.58 m in his second attempt.

He is the only individual to have won gold on his Olympic debut, one of only two Indians to have won an individual Olympic gold medal (the other being Abhinav Bindra), and he is the youngest-ever Indian Olympic gold medalist in an individual event.

Chopra won a Silver medal in the World Athletics Championships on 23 July 2022 with a throw of 88.13m, making him the second Indian to win a medal at the World Athletics Championships after Anju Bobby George, who won a Bronze medal in Women’s Long Jump at the 2003 World Athletics Championships.

Neeraj Chopra was born into a Ror family in Khandra Panipat, Haryana. His family is largely involved in agriculture and he has two sisters. He was educated at BVN Public School. As of 2021, he is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts from Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar, Punjab. He graduated from Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College in Chandigarh.

Neeraj Chopra entered his first international competition, the World Youth Championships in Ukraine, in 2013. He won a silver medal at the Youth Olympics Qualification in Bangkok in 2014, his first international medal. At the 2014 senior nationals, he achieved his first throw of over 70 meters.

This was his first throw of over 80 meters, breaking the previous world record in the junior category in the 2015 All India Inter-University Athletics meet.

The qualifying competitions for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics began on May 2, 2019. On May 3, 2019, Chopra missed the 2019 World Championships in Doha due to bone spurs in his right elbow and underwent surgery in Mumbai. After Chopra meditated and did rehabilitative training at Patiala and the Inspire Institute of Sport at Vijayanagar, he traveled to South Africa in November 2019 for training under German biomechanics expert Klaus Bartoneitz.
