Election Campaigns in Full Swing as Parties Gear Up for Lok Sabha Elections

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, political parties are ramping up their campaigning efforts across the country. On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a major rally in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, rallying support for the BJP-led ruling NDA. Meanwhile, the opposition INDIA bloc staged a protest in Delhi, denouncing the perceived ‘dictatorial’ actions of the Modi government.

Polling for the Lok Sabha elections will be conducted in seven phases, starting from April 19 and concluding on June 1. The counting of votes for all 543 Lok Sabha seats will take place on June 4, determining the composition of the next government.

The BJP, aiming to replicate its previous electoral successes, has set ambitious targets of winning 370 seats independently and securing over 400 seats with allies. Prime Minister Modi, seeking a third consecutive term, is leading the charge for the party. In contrast, the Congress, forming the INDIA bloc, aims to thwart the BJP’s ambitions and bolster its own chances of regaining power.

In preparation for the elections, BJP’s manifesto committee convened its first meeting, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Additionally, BJP fields actor Kangana Ranaut from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, adding star power to its campaign.

Prime Minister Modi’s hectic schedule includes addressing public rallies in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh in the coming days. His extensive tour aims to mobilize support and galvanize voters ahead of the polls.
