On March 6, the benchmark indices continued their upward trend for the second consecutive session, with the Nifty closing above 17,700. The Sensex ended the day up by 415.49 points or 0.69% at 60,224.46, while the Nifty rose by 117.20 points or 0.67% to close at 17,711.50. Of the total shares traded, 2049 witnessed gains, 1430 saw declines, and 189 remained unchanged.
Adani Enterprises, Tata Motors, ONGC, NTPC, and Power Grid Corporation were among the top gainers on the Nifty, while Britannia Industries, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Hindalco Industries, and IndusInd Bank were the top losers. All sectoral indices, except for metal, realty, and PSU Bank, ended the day in the green.
The BSE midcap index recorded a rise of 0.7%, while the smallcap index added nearly 1% during the day’s trading session.
