Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has lauded the Ri-Bhoi District Police for their exemplary performance in intercepting a major drug trafficking operation. Sangma expressed his appreciation for the police force’s sharp intelligence and swift action, which led to the seizure of heroin worth ₹75 lakh and the arrest of a notorious interstate trafficker.
But the success didn’t stop there. Further collaboration with the East Khasi Hills Police in Shillong resulted in the apprehension of two additional traffickers, along with ₹1 lakh in cash and a vehicle. Sangma emphasized the importance of such decisive actions in thwarting the nefarious activities of drug suppliers.
“This rapid response thwarts the cunning schemes of drug traffickers, disrupting their malicious intentions. Kudos to Dr L R Bishnoi, IPS, and his team. We are fully committed to continuing the drive against drugs and keeping our communities safe,” Sangma affirmed, highlighting the government’s unwavering dedication to combatting the menace of drug trafficking in Meghalaya.
The successful operation underscores the effectiveness of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies in combating drug-related crimes. Sangma’s words of commendation serve as a testament to the dedication and professionalism exhibited by the Ri-Bhoi District Police and their counterparts in ensuring the safety and well-being of the citizens of Meghalaya.
