Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has reiterated the government’s dedication to supporting the welfare of farmers in the state. Speaking on the issue of establishing a minimum support price (MSP) for arecanut, Sangma affirmed that the government would thoroughly examine the matter, underscoring its commitment to promoting farmers’ welfare.
“In our efforts to empower farmers, we have initiated various schemes,” stated Conrad K Sangma. He highlighted the rollout of schemes aimed at establishing processing units across the state, aimed at adding value to different agricultural and horticultural products. These initiatives aim to enhance the economic prospects of farmers and uplift their livelihoods.
Sangma’s remarks reflect the government’s proactive approach towards addressing the needs and concerns of the agricultural community in Meghalaya. By exploring avenues such as MSP for arecanut and implementing schemes to bolster processing capabilities, the government seeks to ensure sustained growth and prosperity for farmers across the state.
