Meghalaya Launches Sports Scholarship Scheme: Recognizing Talent and Nurturing Potential

In a significant move to support and empower its sports talent, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma unveiled the Meghalaya Sports Scholarship Scheme. Through this initiative, monthly financial assistance will be provided to deserving sportspersons in the state.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma elaborated on the scheme, stating, “In recognition of our sports talent, we have launched the Meghalaya Sports Scholarship Scheme through which we are providing monthly financial assistance to our sportspersons.” The scholarships, ranging from Rs. 6000 to Rs. 8000 per month, are awarded based on the medals won by athletes in different categories and tournaments.

During a special event, scholarship letters were handed over to talented individuals in the presence of Bollywood actor and youth icon John Abraham. This gesture not only highlights the government’s commitment to nurturing sports talent but also underscores the significance of recognizing and supporting athletes who excel in their respective fields.
