On February 15th, 2023, Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Spain, H.E. Mr. Pedro Sánchez. The two leaders discussed a range of bilateral and international issues of mutual interest and reviewed the progress of ongoing initiatives.
The leaders expressed satisfaction at the recent high-level exchanges between India and Spain and discussed ways to further enhance cooperation in defense, economic, and commercial sectors. They agreed to collaborate on issues such as digital infrastructure, climate action, clean energy transition, and sustainable development, which are crucial in the present times.
PM Modi also briefed his Spanish counterpart on India’s priorities for the G20 Presidency, which is aimed at promoting oneness based on the theme of Vasudhaiva Kutumbkam (One Earth, One Family, One Future). India has taken up the G20 Presidency for the year 2023 and is committed to working toward achieving sustainable and inclusive growth in the world. The Indian Prime Minister highlighted the importance of collective efforts in mitigating the challenges of climate change, and the need for global cooperation in achieving sustainable development goals.
Prime Minister Sánchez extended his full support to India’s initiatives under its G20 Presidency and emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between India and Spain in various sectors. He also appreciated India’s commitment to promoting a sustainable future and expressed his interest in exploring new areas of cooperation.
The conversation between the two leaders is indicative of the growing partnership between India and Spain, and their commitment to strengthening their bilateral relations. The discussion on important issues such as climate change and sustainable development highlights the shared concerns of the two countries, and their willingness to collaborate on solutions for global challenges.
