In a resounding testament to human resilience and collaborative efforts, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has extended her heartfelt appreciation for the dedicated and untiring work of the multi-agency rescue team involved in the Silkyara Tunnel collapse. Sitharaman, acknowledging the remarkable courage displayed by the 41 trapped and now rescued workers, highlights their unwavering self-restraint during the challenging 17-day operation.

“I have a heartfelt appreciation for the multi-agency rescue team—which worked for 17 days untiringly. The 41 trapped and now rescued workers showed remarkable courage and remained with self-restraint,” remarked Sitharaman. The acknowledgment of the workers’ courage underlines the extraordinary challenges they faced and overcame during the prolonged rescue mission.
Coordinated Efforts by PMO India:
Sitharaman also commended the officials of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in India, recognizing their critical role in coordinating the complex rescue operation. Their steadfast commitment and effective coordination contributed significantly to the success of the mission. Sitharaman stated, “Officials of PMO India who stayed at the site and coordinated have delivered on a complex challenge.”
