In a recent gathering in Jaipur, Om Birla, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha (House of the People) in India, engaged in a meaningful conversation with young individuals on the topic of “Aspiring Youth: Democratic India and a Shared Future.” During this insightful dialogue, Birla emphasized the vital role that today’s youth play in shaping the destiny of a democratic India.
Mr. Birla began by acknowledging the tremendous potential that resides within the youth of our nation. He highlighted their unwavering self-confidence, boundless energy, infectious enthusiasm, resolute determination, and inherent capabilities. He stated that the current era, often referred to as the “Amritkal” (golden period) of independence, holds paramount importance in the journey of India’s parliamentary democracy. In this crucial phase, it becomes imperative to enhance the active participation of young people in the democratic process.
The Lok Sabha Speaker underscored the importance of youth engagement in strengthening the democratic fabric of India. He mentioned that the nation’s youth should not merely be passive observers but active participants who contribute to the formulation and execution of policies that affect the future of the country.
Mr. Birla encouraged the youth to harness their aspirations and transform them into a driving force for positive change. He emphasized that democracy thrives when young minds are engaged, as they bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and a passion for progress. Inclusivity, he stressed, is at the core of democracy, and it is essential to ensure that all voices, especially those of the youth, are heard.
The dialogue with Om Birla in Jaipur served as a platform for young individuals to express their views, share their concerns, and propose solutions for the betterment of society. The Speaker reaffirmed the commitment of the government to create an environment conducive to the active participation of youth in politics, governance, and nation-building.
