In a heartfelt announcement on social media, Imad Wasim, the 34-year-old cricketing sensation from Pakistan, has decided to hang up his boots from all forms of international cricket. The announcement comes after a period of introspection, with Wasim expressing that he believes the time is right to step away from the rigorous demands of international play.

Imad Wasim, in his retirement announcement, expressed that after considerable reflection on his international career in recent days, he has concluded that the present moment is the appropriate time for him to officially retire from international cricket.

The seasoned all-rounder took the opportunity to extend his gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their unwavering support throughout his career. “It has truly been an honor to represent Pakistan,” he remarked, acknowledging the significance of the journey he undertook while donning the national colors.

Imad Wasim’s international career spanned 121 appearances across One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). In the ODI format, he featured in 55 matches, while gracing the T20I field 66 times. His dual prowess as a batsman and bowler left an indelible mark, with a total of 1472 runs and 109 wickets to his credit.

Looking back on his cricketing odyssey, Wasim expressed, “Every one of my 121 appearances in both ODI and T20I formats was a dream realized. The future of Pakistan cricket looks promising with the arrival of new coaches and leadership.” I wish all involved every success, and I look forward to watching the team excel.”

The cricketing community will remember Wasim for his dynamic performances, with his final international match against New Zealand earlier in the year adding another chapter to his legacy. In that T20I, he showcased his prowess with a quick-fire 31 off 14 balls and contributed with two wickets.

Imad Wasim was also part of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy-winning side in 2017, a moment that further solidified his place in the annals of Pakistan’s cricketing history.

As Imad Wasim bid adieu to international cricket, he expressed gratitude to the passionate Pakistan fans and acknowledged the pivotal role played by his family and friends in his cricketing journey. With the curtain drawn on this chapter, the cricketing fraternity wishes Imad Wasim success in the next stage of his playing career, away from the international limelight.
