In a significant development, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the new campus of the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes & Narcotics (NACIN) at Palasamudram, Sri Sathya Sai District in Andhra Pradesh. The inauguration was accompanied by a walkthrough of an exhibition and interactions with Officer Trainees from the Indian Revenue Service and the Royal Civil Service of Bhutan.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister congratulated everyone involved in the establishment of the new NACIN campus at Palasamudram. He underscored the speciality of the region, associating it with spirituality, nation-building, and good governance, reflecting India’s rich heritage. The Prime Minister drew inspiration from historical figures like Shri Satya Sai Baba, freedom fighter Padma Shri Kallur Subba Rao, puppetry artist Dalavai Chalapathi Rao, and the governance of the Vijaynagar Empire.

Noting the occasion of Thiruvalluvar Day, Prime Minister Modi quoted the great Tamil sage and emphasized the crucial role of revenue officers in collecting taxes for the welfare of the people in a democracy.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister visited the Veerbhadra Temple in Lepakshi, participating in Bhajan Keertan and reflecting on the belief in the nearby occurrence of Ram Jatayu Samvad. Expressing gratitude for blessings during an 11-day special anushthan, he linked the atmosphere of Ram Bhakti in the country to the principles of good governance, highlighting Shri Ram’s role as an inspiration for NACIN.

Quoting Mahatma Gandhi, Prime Minister Modi connected the idea of Ram Rajya to true democracy, where every citizen’s voice is heard and respect is accorded to all. He emphasized the four pillars of Ram Rajya: citizens walking with dignity, equality, protection of the weak, and the paramount importance of Dharma.

The Prime Minister also delved into Swami Tulsidas’s description of the tax system in Ram Rajya, highlighting its welfare-centric approach. He linked this to recent tax reforms, including the introduction of GST, simplified income tax, and faceless assessment, resulting in record tax collection and substantial tax savings for citizens.

Emphasizing the government’s focus on optimum resource utilization, Prime Minister Modi drew parallels to Lord Ram’s advice to Bharat, urging the completion of tasks with minimal cost and maximum benefit. He praised the government’s achievements in completing projects on time over the past decade.

Citing Goswami Tulsidas again, the Prime Minister stressed the need for a system supporting the poor and eliminating non-deserving beneficiaries. He highlighted the government’s efforts in weeding out fake names from documents, ensuring that every paisa reaches the rightful beneficiary.

PM Modi celebrated the reduction of poverty in India, as reported by NITI Aayog, acknowledging the rise of the neo-middle class and the government’s focus on health, education, and employment. He expressed confidence that empowering the poor with means and resources can lead to defeating poverty.
