PM Modi to Visit MP on Ahilyabai Holkar’s 300th Birth Year

On the momentous occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, one of India’s most revered and visionary women rulers, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Madhya Pradesh on 31st May 2025. The visit will honor her enduring legacy and serve as a powerful platform to promote women’s empowerment, cultural pride, and national development.

Celebrating a Legendary Queen and Social Reformer

At around 11:15 AM, the Prime Minister will participate in the Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Mahila Sashaktikaran Mahasammelan in Bhopal. This mega conference will focus on celebrating women’s contributions to society and inspiring the next generation with Ahilyabai Holkar’s ideals of justice, good governance, and public service.

In a fitting tribute, Prime Minister Modi will release a commemorative postage stamp and a special ₹300 coin dedicated to Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai. The coin will feature a portrait of the legendary queen, symbolizing the 300 years since her birth and her pivotal role in shaping Indian history through her devotion to dharma and welfare-centric rule.

Honoring Women’s Contribution to Arts and Culture

The Prime Minister will also present the National Devi Ahilyabai Award to a distinguished woman artist recognized for her contributions to tribal, folk, and traditional arts. This initiative not only honors women’s creativity but also supports the preservation and promotion of India’s rich cultural heritage, especially indigenous art forms.

Inauguration and Foundation of Major Development Projects

Prime Minister Modi’s visit will also mark the inauguration and foundation-laying of multiple development projects aimed at boosting infrastructure and economic opportunities in Madhya Pradesh:

Ghat Construction on the Kshipra River

In preparation for the Simhastha Mahakumbh 2028 in Ujjain, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for ghat construction works worth over ₹860 crore. These works include the building of barrages, stop dams, and vented causeways on the Kshipra River, which will regulate water flow and enhance spiritual and tourism infrastructure.

Boosting Air Connectivity in Vindhya Region

In a major boost to last-mile connectivity, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the newly built airports in Datia and Satna. These airports are set to unlock fresh opportunities for industry, tourism, education, and healthcare, driving growth across the Vindhya region.

Indore Metro – A Leap in Urban Mobility

Demonstrating the government’s dedication to modern urban infrastructure, the Prime Minister will inaugurate passenger services on the Super Priority Corridor of Indore Metro’s Yellow Line. This eco-friendly initiative aims to offer a smooth and convenient commute for thousands, while easing traffic congestion and reducing pollution in one of Madhya Pradesh’s rapidly growing cities.

Empowering Rural Governance with Atal Gram Sushasan Bhawans

Prime Minister Modi will also initiate the construction of 1,271 Atal Gram Sushasan Bhawans across rural Madhya Pradesh. With a combined investment of over ₹480 crore, these buildings will act as permanent infrastructure for gram panchayats, enabling better administration, documentation, and village-level governance. This step aligns with the vision of Minimum Government, Maximum Governance and will significantly improve the efficiency of rural administration.

A Vision of Progress Rooted in Legacy

This visit, on the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, represents the union of India’s glorious past and its progressive future. By honoring a legendary woman leader who stood for justice, development, and devotion, and by launching initiatives that empower today’s citizens—especially women and rural communities—Prime Minister Modi’s visit will be a historical milestone for Madhya Pradesh and the nation at large.

It is a reminder that the legacy of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar lives on not only in history books but also in every step taken towards inclusive development, cultural pride, and women’s empowerment.
