Savitri Thakur Inspects Anganwadi Centre in Indore

As part of a major outreach initiative to assess and reinforce grassroots delivery of women and child welfare services, Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Smt. Savitri Thakur, visited the Anganwadi Centre at Sethi Nagar in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The visit, conducted under a broader field inspection programme, was accompanied by a national media delegation, senior WCD officials, local administration representatives, and key ICDS stakeholders.

During her visit, the Minister closely reviewed the quality and scope of services being provided at the AWC, engaging directly with Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), local beneficiaries, and community members. Her discussions focused on understanding the real-time impact of initiatives related to nutrition, maternal and child health, and early childhood education. Smt. Thakur expressed satisfaction with the visible progress made in Anganwadi service delivery, especially under the transformative framework of Poshan 2.0.

A central theme of her address was the growing relevance of Anganwadi Centres not only as nutritional hubs but as vibrant and modern spaces for Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE). She lauded the government’s sustained investments in infrastructure improvement, digital empowerment through tools like the Poshan Tracker, and continuous capacity-building for frontline workers. These interventions, she said, are ensuring timely service delivery, data-backed monitoring, and greater community trust in Anganwadi operations.

Highlighting the Saksham Anganwadi vision, the Minister stated that these Centres now serve as dynamic engines of social transformation. “An Anganwadi Centre today is not just a centre of nourishment—it is a centre of nation-building,” she said, underlining the role these Centres play in reducing malnutrition, supporting young mothers, and creating a healthier, more educated generation.

Savitri Thakur reiterated the Government’s unwavering commitment to achieving a Malnutrition-Free India. The focus, she said, lies in ensuring last-mile delivery, especially to vulnerable and underserved populations. The integration of health, nutrition, and early education under a unified approach has started yielding measurable outcomes, and these must be further strengthened through continued support, innovation, and collaboration.

Reflecting on the progress made over the past eleven years under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Smt. Thakur highlighted the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of women and children. She pointed to landmark initiatives such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, POSHAN Abhiyaan, Maternity Benefit Schemes, and the One-Stop Centre Scheme as examples of how women-centric development has been placed at the heart of India’s policy agenda.

“From safe childbirth to school enrollment, from bank accounts to legal empowerment, this decade has empowered women like never before. This is the era of Nari Shakti, and Anganwadis are its strongest foundation,” she declared.

In conclusion, the Minister of State called upon Anganwadi Workers and community leaders to continue playing their pivotal role in nation-building. She assured all stakeholders of the Government’s continued support in strengthening the WCD ecosystem and making every child and woman in India safer, healthier, and more empowered.
