Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections: The 2023 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election is a pivotal event in the state’s democratic process, set to occur in two phases on the 7th and 17th of November, with the results expected to be declared on the 3rd of December 2023. The significance of this election is heightened by the passionate call to action by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging all eligible voters to actively participate in this democratic celebration.
PM Modi’s Encouragement and Significance of the Elections
In a significant address, Prime Minister Modi described the election as the “sacred festival of democracy in Chhattisgarh.” His impassioned plea for voter turnout emphasized the crucial role citizens play in shaping the future of the state through their votes. He particularly lauded the first-time voters, extending his congratulations and emphasizing the significance of their participation in shaping the state’s destiny.

The current incumbent Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh is Bhupesh Baghel, who has been steering the state’s administration. The upcoming election holds the promise of either affirming the current leadership or steering the state’s governance in a new direction.
The tenure of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly is due to conclude on the 3rd of January 2024. Notably, the previous assembly elections occurred in November 2018, resulting in the Indian National Congress forming the government, with Bhupesh Baghel assuming the position of Chief Minister.
