Portland: A Portland family is pursuing legal action against the Portland Public School district, seeking $9 million in damages, following allegations that their daughter was subjected to a gang rape in a school bathroom.
According to reports, the victim, a student enrolled in the Schools Uniting Neighborhoods program, was allegedly assaulted by two male students. Shockingly, the perpetrators received only a one-day suspension, and the school district failed to involve law enforcement in the matter.
Instead of promptly contacting the authorities, the school purportedly conducted its investigation into the incident. Disturbingly, the victim was reportedly coerced into the bathroom by the assailants, who threatened her with harm if she did not comply with their demands.
Once inside the bathroom, the assailants allegedly subjected the victim to a horrific ordeal, forcibly removing her pants and taking turns assaulting her. Moreover, they allegedly blocked her attempts to leave, leaving her feeling trapped and helpless.
In a further breach of protocol, school staff allegedly interviewed the victim without notifying her parents or providing her with legal representation. This egregious mishandling of the situation has prompted widespread condemnation and demands for accountability from the school district.
