The President of India, Droupadi Murmu delivered a keynote address at the 4th convocation of AIIMS Rishikesh, held on April 23, 2024, in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. Commending the institution’s commitment to excellence in healthcare and education, she highlighted AIIMS Rishikesh’s significant contribution to the national healthcare landscape.
In her speech, President Murmu underscored the pivotal role played by AIIMS in providing world-class medical services and education across the country. She emphasized that the establishment of AIIMS in various regions aims to ensure accessibility to quality healthcare and education for all, especially for meritorious students.
Acknowledging the increasing participation of women in various sectors, including healthcare, President Murmu praised the substantial representation of female students at AIIMS Rishikesh. She hailed this trend as a positive social transformation, reflecting the empowerment of women in diverse fields.
President Murmu stressed the importance of leveraging advanced technology in healthcare delivery, urging AIIMS Rishikesh to embrace innovations like CAR T-cell therapy and Stem Cell Research. She encouraged collaboration in these areas to accelerate progress and enhance treatment modalities.
Highlighting the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics in medical diagnostics and treatment, the President expressed confidence in AIIMS Rishikesh’s ability to harness these technologies effectively. She emphasized the need for continuous adaptation to technological advancements for improved patient care and outcomes.
Addressing specific health challenges prevalent in Uttarakhand, such as osteoporosis and anemia, President Murmu emphasized the importance of addressing local health issues alongside global medical advancements. She urged AIIMS Rishikesh to prioritize research and solutions tailored to regional and national healthcare needs.
Emphasizing the significance of public health and community engagement, President Murmu urged AIIMS Rishikesh to focus on initiatives aimed at promoting overall well-being and preventive healthcare. She highlighted the role of the institute in contributing to a ‘Healthy India’ and fostering national development through its dedication to public health initiatives.
The President’s address at the convocation exemplifies the commitment of AIIMS Rishikesh and similar institutions to advancing healthcare, education, and research for the betterment of society, paving the way for a healthier and more prosperous India.
