Renowned industrialist Anand Mahindra took to social media to express his profound grief at the sudden demise of Paolo Pininfarina, a scion of the esteemed Pininfarina family of Italy.
Mahindra reminisced about the significant personal loss, recalling the pivotal role Paolo played in their shared endeavor to bring Battista Pininfarina’s vision to fruition. He recounted the ambitious journey of acquiring Paolo Pininfarina’s flagship design company, driven by the goal of materializing Battista’s dream of adorning cars with the family name.
Highlighting Paolo Pininfarina’s historic legacy of crafting exquisite automobiles for prestigious manufacturers like Ferrari and Alfa Romeo, Mahindra emphasized the poignant fact that Battista, affectionately known as ‘pinin,’ never witnessed his name gracing the front of a car.
Yet, under Paolo’s stewardship, Mahindra Group embarked on the ambitious project of designing the groundbreaking Pininfarina Battista electric hypercar. The successful realization of this dream culminated in a shared sense of fulfillment between Mahindra and Paolo.
Throughout his tenure as Chairman of Pininfarina, Paolo’s unwavering commitment to design excellence and brand custodianship left an indelible mark on the company. Mahindra fondly recalled the cherished moments shared with Paolo, expressing a personal sense of loss at the departure of a dear friend and collaborator.
In a heartfelt tribute, Mahindra envisioned Paolo embarking on a celestial journey, guided by the proud gaze of his grandfather, Battista. He concluded with a prayer for Paolo’s eternal peace, symbolizing the enduring legacy of a visionary leader and a cherished friendship.
