In a cricketing feat that adds another feather to India’s cap, Suryakumar Yadav has etched his name in the record books by surpassing 2000 T20I runs during a match against South Africa in Gqeberah. This achievement positions him as the join-fastest Indian alongside Virat Kohli to reach this noteworthy milestone.
Suryakumar Yadav, who is donning the captain’s armband for the Indian side, attained the 2000-run mark in his 56th T20I innings. The right-handed batter showcased his prowess with a commanding six over mid-wicket against South African pacer Lizaad Williams, solidifying his status as a formidable force in the T20 format.
“Notably, Suryakumar Yadav’s accomplishment also places him as the joint-third fastest overall to reach 2000 T20I runs, standing only behind the Pakistani duo of Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan, who achieved the feat in the 52nd innings”.
“What sets Suryakumar apart, however, is his remarkable speed in reaching the 2000-run mark in terms of the number of balls faced. The Indian batter achieved this milestone in 1164 balls, breaking the previous record held by Australia’s Aaron Finch, who took 1283 balls to reach the same figure. Suryakumar’s ability to amass runs efficiently underscores his skill and adaptability in the fast-paced T20 format”.
