The state of Rajasthan is currently witnessing a high-pitched battle between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the ongoing assembly elections. Veteran Congress leader Sachin Pilot is leading from his Tonk assembly constituency, which is a major boost for the Congress party. Sachin Pilot is a prominent Gurjar leader of Rajasthan who has been continuously expressing his displeasure against the Gehlot government. However, due to this internal strife, Congress may have to face difficulties in the state.
Sachin Pilot’s victory in Tonk is significant as it was earlier held by Ajit Singh Mehta of the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2013, Ajit Singh Mehta won the Tonk seat by defeating independent candidate Saud Sayeedi by a margin of 30,343 votes. However, Sachin Pilot captured this seat in 2018 by defeating BJP candidate Yunus Khan by a margin of 54,179 votes.
It will be interesting to see how Sachin Pilot’s victory in Tonk impacts the overall political landscape of Rajasthan. With the Congress party facing internal strife, the BJP may have a chance to capitalize on this and gain an upper hand in the state. It remains to be seen how the rest of the election results pan out, but Sachin Pilot’s victory in Tonk is a positive for the Congress party.
