On the 9th of November, Shri Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister, greeted the people of Uttarakhand on their Statehood Day.

In a tweet he said:

“Statehood Day greetings to the people of Uttarakhand. This is a state closely associated with nature and spirituality. People from this state are making phenomenal contributions, across many sectors, to nation-building. May Uttarakhand keep progressing in the coming years.”

Uttarakhand Day referred to as Uttarakhand Divas by some, is celebrated as the state foundation day of the Indian state Uttarakhand. It has been observed annually on 9 November since 2000.

Uttarakhand was carved out of northern Uttar Pradesh on the 9th November 2000 and became the 27th State of India. In 2007, it was renamed Uttarakhand from its earlier name Uttaranchal.
