Kerala: In a significant stride towards bolstering Kerala’s modern road infrastructure, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 12 National Highway projects in Kasargod. With a collective length of 105 km and a total investment exceeding ₹1464 Crore, these projects mark a crucial development in the region’s transportation network.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished personalities, including Union MoS Shri V. Muraleedharan, Kerala PWD Minister Shri P. A. Mohammed Riyas, MP from Kasargod Shri Rajmohan Unnithan, along with MLAs and Senior Officials. The projects aim to fortify the connectivity between Tamil Nadu and Kerala, striving for an efficient and unhindered transportation system.

One of the primary objectives of these projects is to curtail overall transportation costs by optimizing routes and ensuring smoother traffic flow. The initiative also places a strong emphasis on addressing black spots on National Highways, thereby contributing to a significant reduction in road accidents and enhancing road safety standards.

Beyond infrastructural development, the ambitious undertaking is expected to create substantial employment opportunities, directly benefiting the local population and indirectly fostering socio-economic growth in Kerala. The improved accessibility to popular destinations like Munnar is anticipated to boost tourism potential, offering a positive impact on the state’s economy.

One notable feature is the construction of a high-level bridge, poised to eliminate a 27 km detour during floods. This strategic infrastructure development will not only streamline travel but also facilitate the export of key Kerala products, contributing to the economic vibrancy of the region.

As these National Highway projects unfold, they signify a concerted effort towards creating a robust and efficient road network in Kerala, with the potential to transform the state’s economic landscape and elevate its standing in the realm of modern infrastructure.
