Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extends heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Union Cabinet’s approval of an additional installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners. The increase, effective from January 1st, 2024, raises the basic salary/pension by 4 percent from the existing rate of 46 percent.

This decision, benefiting over 49.18 lakh central government employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners, is a testament to the government’s commitment to the welfare of its workforce. The combined impact on the exchequer amounts to Rs 12,868.72 crore per annum, providing financial relief to individuals amidst rising inflation.

The approval aligns with the accepted formula based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission, ensuring fair compensation for the impact of inflation on employees’ purchasing power. Chief Minister Yogi highlights the significance of this decision, particularly as it precedes the festive occasion of Holi, bringing joy and relief to countless households across the nation.

The increase in Dearness Allowance and Relief underscores the government’s proactive approach towards addressing economic challenges and prioritizing the well-being of its employees and pensioners. As India celebrates the spirit of unity and prosperity during Holi, this decision reflects the government’s commitment to supporting its workforce and ensuring their financial stability in times of need.
